「前もって」ahead of time
ahead of timeは、締切が来る前に何かをする、今後の予定に先立って何かをする、という意味です。
ahead of timeの使い方の例
- For international flights, be sure to arrive at the airport two to three hours ahead of time.
国際線を利用する場合は、2～3時間前には空港に到着するようにしてください。 - The travel agent recommended that we make hotel reservations for the New Year’s weekend at least three months ahead of time. We should have listened to her.
旅行会社の人が、正月休みの週末は少なくとも3ヵ月前にホテルの予約をした方が良いって言ってたんだ。彼女の言うことをきくべきだったな。 - （管理者が従業員に）
I’m sorry, but I can’t give you the day off tomorrow. Next time you want time off, ask me ahead of time instead of leaving it to the last minute.
悪いが、明日は休みをあげられないよ。次に休みを取りたい時はぎりぎりではなく前もって言いなさい。
