ビジネスEメールの書き方のポイント

海外で働く我々にとって英語の悩みはつきません。英語といっても、当地はシングリッシュだし、コミュニケーションの道具に過ぎないのだから、ブロークンでもいいんだよ！　と言い訳をしていませんか？　確かにその考えも一理あるでしょう。しかし、もし完璧な英語を駆使できたら、あなたの人生は変わりませんか？　もちろん完璧とまでは難しいでしょうが、少しでも正しい英語を使えたら、きっとビジネスの成功具合も変わるに違いありません。そこで今回からベルリッツランゲージスクールの協力のもと、正しい英語を学んでいきましょう。第1回はEメールの書き方についてです。

ビジネスEメールの書き方のポイント

1. 主題を明確にしましょう
   • 英語は起承転結の順ではなく結論を先に書きましょう。
2. メッセージを簡潔に保ちましょう
   • The KISS Rule＝Keep it short and simple言いたいことだけを簡潔かつ明確に書きましょう。
3. 適切な体制／トーンを用いましょう
   • 顧客宛、社内、友人と日本語程ではありませんが、英語にも使い分けはあります。
4. 適切な表現を用いましょう
   • シーンに合わせた適切な表現を覚えましょう。
5. 正しい句読法を用いましょう
   • 正しい句読点、またスペルミスにも気をつけましょう。

悪い例

Dear Mr. Peterson, Great to meet you last Thursday! As i said at the conference, we have a variety of consulting services for small businesses. when you told me your problems with the market in Singapore, I immediatly thought of a some ways in which i could help you. I will be in your area next, can we meet? See you. Best.

1. Great to meet you last Thursday!……顧客相手にはCasualすぎる表現
2. As i……誤）大文字、小文字の区別に注意！
3. immediatly……誤）スペリングミスにも注意！
4. Best……顧客相手ではCasualすぎる表現。友人ならOK

良い例

Subject： Arranging a meeting

Dear Mr. Peterson,

It was a pleasure meeting you last Thursday.

As I mentioned at the conference, we offer a variety of consulting services for small businesses. When you described your problems with the market in Singapore, I immediately thought of a couple of ways in which we could help you.

I will be in your area next week and would very much like to share my ideas with you. Would it be possible to meet you?
