似たもの英単語の使い分け「fireとlay off」
fireは、仕事ができない、あるいは勤務態度が悪いという理由で雇用主が解雇する、という意味です。
動詞のlay offは、従業員の雇用の継続をやめる、という意味で、一時解雇とも訳されます。企業の財政難や、業務そのものがもはや必要でなくなった、などの理由による人員削減のケースが当てはまります。
名詞のlayoffは、1人、またはそれ以上の従業員の一時解雇という意味です。
