「CHINESE ZODIAC / THE YEAR OF THE (Sheep)」十二支／（未）年
Chinese zodiacとは、中国や日本などの国で暦年と関係のある12種類の動物（signsと呼びます）のことです。
何年（なにどし）かを言うときには、the year of the…という表現を使い、たとえば2015年ならthe year of the sheepとなります。日本で使われている十二支の英語での言い方は次の通りです。
※シンガポールでは、一般に未年はthe year of the goat、亥年はthe year of the pigと言います。

新年の決意
New Year’s resolutionは、一年の始まりにあたって、人生に前向きな変化をもたらすよう、自分自身に向けて立てる誓いのことです。
- My New Year’s resolutions are to finally get in shape, to try to read more, and to spend more time with my children.
私の新年の決意は、身体を鍛え、もっと本を読み、そして子どもたちともっと多くの時間を過ごすことです。
- A: Did you make any New Year’s resolutions for this year?
B: Just one. I’m going to quit smoking.
A: 今年の抱負は何か決まった？
B: 1つだけね。禁煙するつもりだよ。
- My brother has never kept a New Year’s resolution for more than two weeks.
僕の弟は、新年の誓いを2週間以上守れた試しが無い。
